History
of Lancaster Mold, Inc.
In Lancaster,
Pennsylvania in November of 1973, Richard C. Rehm, founded
his closely
held company which he aptly named
Lancaster Mold, Inc. (LMI). With the help of Dick’s son,
Gary, LMI entered the plastics industry focusing on injection
mold repair. Today, the Company can design, build and run your
plastic injection mold under one roof.
The personnel of
the Company grew quickly to include Dick’s
wife Gerry who handled the administrative duties for LMI.
His son Scott joined LMI in 1977 and son Rick completed the
family
business by coming on board in 1978. Dick and his family
ran a successful business for 25 years before he and his
wife retired.
Today,
Rick, Gary and Scott Rehm guide the Company under the
same high standards in which LMI was originally founded. The
second-generation ownership has provided a new vision for the
future. This three-fold mission focuses upon manufacturing
a quality product to satisfy valued customers’ needs,
providing consistent employment with abundant opportunities
for employees, and operating the firm in an efficient manner
to insure success for many years to come.
Early on,
LMI performed business in a 7,500 square foot facility on
Ranck Avenue in
Lancaster City. In 1993, with the company
experiencing growing pains, management had the foresight
to look beyond a small planned addition to the Ranck Avenue
property.
They proceeded to purchase a 20,500 square foot facility
located at 2501 Horseshoe Road in Upper Leacock Township. This
facility
currently houses LMI’s Design, Mold Building and Plastic
Production Departments. In 1996, LMI purchased an additional
22,000 square foot warehouse that is located a few blocks
away. This building handles storage, assembly and production
overflow.
More importantly, the “warehouse” provides the
venue for future growth.

Over the years, Lancaster Mold, Inc.
has grown to employ well over 50 dedicated and talented
employees. We recognize that
the hard work of our people is the foundation of the Company.
With a solid management team and an outstanding work force,
we feel confident that LMI continues to be a leader in the
plastics industry.
Goods and Services LMI began selling
mold repair services to local businesses in the early 1970’s. The Company quickly expanded into
designing and building plastic injection molds. The high tech
nature of LMI’s capabilities coupled with a quarter
century of experience provides us the ability to manufacture
the most
complex tools with ease.
A natural extension of tool manufacturing
is the production of plastic parts. In the late-eighties,
LMI purchased its first
injection molding machine and have been producing high quality
parts ever since. We run three shifts daily with assembly
and shipping capabilities.
LMI’s
dedicated employees provide our customers the luxury of a
one-stop-shop
for injection molding
services. We
have the ability of putting your idea to paper, building
a mold on site, producing your first plastic parts and then
shipping
them to any location in the world. The benefits are numerous,
but most important, is the ability to deal with one company
from beginning to end. What could be simpler?
